INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHI) – Cryptocurrency has become a very popular form of money investment, but, the Better Business Bureau says it’s also become the riskiest for scams.
According to the BBB, cryptocurrency scams have the second largest average dollar loss at $3,800.
Experts say these scams can take many forms. That includes pressure to buy, trade, or store fake exchanges. Scammers will promise a return on investment, but will never follow through with it.
Experts with the BBB say it could be hard to get that money back.
“They’ll probably have you send money through means that’s hard to trace, or retrieve or put a stop to. You want to certainly report it if you can, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re gonna get your money back,” said Jennifer Adamany with the BBB.
If you experience any scams with crypto investing, you can report it to the BBB Scam Tracker.
