Nscale Loses Microsoft AI Deal Amid UK Power Delays

Nvidia-backed Nscale has lost a Microsoft AI deal as a potential grid connection delay threatens its planned UK chip rollout, CoinDesk reported.

Nscale, a company with roots in bitcoin mining, has lost an artificial intelligence deal with Microsoft because of delays to its UK power supply plans, according to CoinDesk.
The Nvidia-backed business had planned to deliver 23,000 AI chips in the UK next year. However, the grid connection needed to support the project may not be available until the 2030s.
That potential wait puts the power supply well beyond the planned delivery date, leaving a substantial gap between Nscale’s chip rollout schedule and the infrastructure needed to run it.
