Swiss approval opens a retail spot bitcoin ETF route under national fund law, with a diversification exemption and tighter investor protections.

Switzerland has authorized its first spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund for retail investors, according to Bitcoin.com News. The decision, announced Tuesday, makes a new regulated investment option available under Swiss fund law.
The approval grants an exception to standard diversification rules, permitting the public fund to focus its holdings directly on bitcoin rather than spread exposure across multiple assets.
Alongside that exemption, regulators are requiring enhanced custody protections and investor disclosures. These conditions accompany the expansion of retail access to bitcoin through a regulated fund structure.
