Starknet Asks Community Whether to Study an Independent Layer 1

A seven-day vote lets STRK stakers and delegators weigh research into an independent Layer 1, without authorizing a move away from Ethereum settlement.
Starknet is putting research into a potential independent Layer 1 network before its community, with STRK stakers and delegators eligible to take part in a seven-day poll.
The vote concerns whether to explore that option, rather than whether to change the network’s settlement arrangements. It does not authorize a departure from Ethereum settlement.
Any eventual transition would require a separate governance process, according to The Defiant. The current poll therefore keeps the research decision distinct from approval of a network change.
