Solana Targets Oct. 21 for Alpenglow Upgrade
Solana has set Oct. 21 for Alpenglow, an upgrade targeting 150-millisecond finality that will also change how validator votes are handled.

Solana has scheduled its Alpenglow upgrade for Oct. 21, aiming to bring transaction finality to 150 milliseconds, according to CoinDesk.
The upgrade will replace the network’s current validator voting mechanism and stop including vote transactions in blocks.
Removing those votes could substantially alter reported transaction totals without any change in user activity. That distinction will matter when comparing network metrics before and after the switch.
