Researchers must burn 1 SOL per Solana bug report after a monthlong contest received 809 submissions, nearly all suspected of involving AI.

Researchers submitting Solana bug reports must now permanently burn 1 SOL for each submission, according to CoinDesk. The requirement comes amid a surge of suspected AI-assisted spam reaching security teams.
A monthlong contest attracted 809 reports. AI is believed to have helped generate or write nearly all of those submissions, though its involvement has not been confirmed.
The new requirement imposes an irreversible cost on every report: researchers must destroy the SOL rather than pay a refundable deposit.
