Shopify is expanding Shop Pay so AI agents can make purchases at stores outside its platform using single-use card credentials, The Defiant reports.
Shopify is extending Shop Pay to support AI agents making purchases beyond its own platform, according to The Defiant.
The feature lets agents pay at non-Shopify stores using card credentials valid for a single use. This gives agents a way to complete payments outside Shopify-powered checkouts.
Retailers do not need to add a new integration to accept these payments, according to the report. The approach expands where agents can use Shop Pay without requiring those stores to adopt Shopify.
