Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
Russia will require crypto trades to go through Bank of Russia-approved brokers or exchanges from July 1, 2027, ending direct peer-to-peer transactions.

Russia is set to prohibit direct cryptocurrency trading between individuals from July 1, 2027, according to Decrypt, which reported confirmation from the central bank.
Under the planned rules, all crypto purchases and sales will have to pass through a broker or exchange authorized by the Bank of Russia.
Until the deadline, Russians can continue buying and selling crypto directly with one another. The change will make approved intermediaries mandatory for those transactions.
