Researchers Outline Shielded Bitcoin Transfers, but BTC Link Remains Unfinished

Researchers have outlined a system for bitcoin-denominated transfers with shielded privacy similar to Zcash, according to CoinDesk.

The design would operate alongside Bitcoin rather than require changes to the network’s existing rules.

A key component is still unfinished: the mechanism for securing actual BTC in the system and releasing it afterward. The proposal therefore does not yet provide a complete route for moving real bitcoin into and out of private transfers.
