The US banking regulator has encouraged community banks to issue payment stablecoins after finalizing rules for the GENIUS Act, Cointelegraph reported.

The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has called on community banks to become issuers of payment stablecoins, according to Cointelegraph.
The appeal came after the banking regulator completed its rules for the GENIUS Act, a US law governing stablecoins.
The law is scheduled to take effect in January. The OCC’s message puts community banks among the institutions it is encouraging to participate as issuers.
