The OCC’s final GENIUS Act rule takes effect Jan. 18, 2027, with temporary compliance waivers available to certain existing issuers.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has finalized its GENIUS Act rule, removing a presumption concerning third-party yield, according to The Defiant.
The rule is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 18, 2027, setting a date for implementation of the finalized requirements.
Existing issuers may request temporary compliance waivers if they have substantially complete applications awaiting OCC review. The option allows eligible issuers to seek relief but does not guarantee a waiver.
