A nine-member crypto alliance plans open standards for evaluating quantum-resistance claims amid forecasts of practical attacks in the late 2020s.

Nine crypto firms have formed an alliance to develop open standards for testing claims that blockchain technology can withstand quantum attacks, according to Decrypt.
The group is modeled on the Internet Engineering Task Force. Its stated goal is to establish shared standards for assessing quantum resistance.
The launch comes as roughly 6 million bitcoin are described as exposed to quantum-related risks. Forecasts cited in the report put the first practical attack in the late 2020s, though that timeline remains a projection.
