A new MSCI rule could lead to Strategy’s removal from major indexes after Nov. 30, with JPMorgan estimating potential forced selling of $2.8 billion.

MSCI has adopted a rule that could make Strategy ineligible for its flagship indexes after Nov. 30, according to Bitcoin.com News. The company holds 848,250 bitcoin.
The index provider released the findings of its consultation on “non-operating companies” on Oct. 15. The resulting rule could affect Strategy’s continued inclusion in MSCI’s global benchmarks.
JPMorgan estimates that an exclusion could trigger $2.8 billion in forced selling. Removal could require funds tracking the affected indexes to sell their Strategy shares, though the report describes the outcome as a possibility rather than a confirmed decision.
