Mastercard Adds Fraud and Sanctions Checks for Stablecoin Payments
Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
Mastercard has announced Stablecoin Security, a system intended to detect payment risks before stablecoin transfers reach the blockchain.

Mastercard announced Stablecoin Security on Oct. 19, 2026, expanding its work in stablecoin payments with a tool aimed at identifying fraud, scams and sanctions-related risks.
The system brings together intelligence from conventional payments and blockchain analysis. It is designed to flag potential problems before funds are sent on-chain.
Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are the first partners. The rollout is set to begin in North America, with wider commercial availability planned afterward.
