MapQuest Adds Map Layer for License Plate Reader Locations
Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
MapQuest users can now enable a layer showing known license plate readers from Flock Safety and other suppliers amid growing opposition to the cameras.
MapQuest has introduced an optional feature in its app that lets drivers view the locations of known license plate readers, according to Decrypt.
The map layer includes cameras supplied by Flock Safety as well as those from other vendors. Users can choose whether to display it.
The addition comes as opposition to license plate-reading cameras grows. The feature identifies known locations rather than offering a comprehensive inventory of every reader.
