Developer Olaoluwa Osuntokun has proposed Layertree, a Bitcoin scaling design intended to serve millions of owners through one blockchain output.

Lightning Labs developer Olaoluwa Osuntokun unveiled a Bitcoin scaling proposal called Layertree on Oct. 15, 2026, according to Bitcoin.com News.
The tree-based design aims to let millions of bitcoin owners share a single blockchain output while retaining control over their funds. It proposes a way to accommodate more users within Bitcoin’s on-chain structure.
The approach cannot operate under Bitcoin’s current rules, however. Layertree remains a proposal, with its intended functionality dependent on changes to those rules.
