Hobbyists have demonstrated Apple's iOS 16 booting on Android phones made by Xiaomi and Nothing, according to Decrypt.
The experimenters have shared evidence of their results, but the software is barely functional on the devices. The demonstrations do not establish that it is ready for everyday use.
The experiments suggest that running iOS outside Apple's hardware is technically possible, even if a practical alternative remains out of reach based on the results reported.
