An amendment backed by French lawmakers would tax swaps into euro- or dollar-linked stablecoins from 2027, with gains calculated for each coin.

French lawmakers have backed an amendment to tax cryptocurrency swaps into euro- or dollar-linked stablecoins, according to Decrypt. The measure passed by a margin of one vote.
Under the proposal, those conversions would become taxable in France from 2027. Exchanging crypto for a stablecoin would therefore trigger a tax calculation.
Gains would be assessed separately for each coin under the amendment. The vote marks support for the proposed change, rather than confirmation that the tax is already in force.
