A French amendment would end tax deferral for conversions into single-currency e-money tokens from January 2027 if enacted.

A French proposal to change the tax treatment of certain stablecoin conversions faces a budget vote on Oct. 20, according to The Defiant.
Deputies narrowly approved the amendment by a single vote. The measure would remove tax deferral when crypto assets are converted into e-money tokens tied to one currency.
The change would take effect in January 2027 if enacted. The amendment’s approval does not mean the proposed tax treatment is already law.
