Filecoin Proposal Would Redirect Block Rewards Toward Paid Storage

FIP-0118 would gradually reduce the consensus share of Filecoin block rewards and burn any unearned service allocation, according to The Defiant.
Filecoin is proposing a change to its block reward allocation that would give paid storage a larger role, according to The Defiant. The plan is outlined in FIP-0118.
Under the proposal, the portion of each block reward assigned to consensus would decline from 95% toward a minimum of 50%. The transition would take roughly nine quarters.
The proposal also calls for any unearned portion of the service allocation to be burned. That would make the amount distributed depend in part on how much of that allocation is earned.
