Filecoin Nears Vesting End, Cutting Annual FIL Releases by 68 Million
The end of Filecoin’s six-year vesting period would reduce annualized FIL additions to about 21 million at the latest mining rate, The Defiant reports.
Filecoin is approaching the close of its six-year vesting period, a change that would remove roughly 68 million FIL from annual token releases, according to The Defiant.
At the latest mining pace, combined annualized additions from vesting and block rewards would decline from approximately 89 million FIL to 21 million FIL.
Rewards for storage providers will continue after vesting ends. The change would therefore lower the flow of new tokens rather than bring all FIL releases to a halt.
