European City Birds Flee Earlier From Women Than Men, Study Finds
Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
A study of 37 urban bird species across five European countries found that birds took flight sooner when approached by women than by men.

Urban birds allowed men to approach roughly one meter nearer than women before flying away, on average, according to a study reported by Bitcoin.com News.
Researchers examined 37 city-dwelling species in Czechia, France, Germany, Poland and Spain. The birds studied included great tits, house sparrows and blackbirds.
The research measured flight initiation distance—the distance between a bird and an approaching person when the bird takes off. Researchers say the reason for the observed difference between male and female approaches remains unknown.
