ESMA Seeks Jan. 8 Wind-Down for Noncompliant Stablecoins
ESMA is calling for a Jan. 8 wind-down of noncompliant stablecoin services, with custody and transfers now included, according to The Defiant.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has called for services involving noncompliant stablecoins to be wound down by Jan. 8, The Defiant reported.
The regulator’s opinion extends to custody and transfers, bringing those activities within the scope of the wind-down.
Earlier guidance had permitted custody and transfer services to remain available. The new opinion marks a broader approach to the treatment of noncompliant stablecoins.
