Brandon Thomas has used Anthropic’s Claude to create free replicas of Word, Excel and PowerPoint after previously cloning Photoshop with AI.
Developer Brandon Thomas has built free, open-source versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint using Anthropic’s Claude, according to Decrypt.
The project follows his earlier effort to recreate Photoshop with AI. This time, Thomas targeted the applications used for documents, spreadsheets and presentations in Microsoft’s Office suite.
The replicas remain rough rather than polished replacements. Still, the project illustrates how AI tools can lower the cost of developing software that imitates established applications.
