The CFTC has sued Utah to defend Kalshi’s ability to offer betting contracts, extending its push for exclusive oversight of prediction markets.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has filed a lawsuit against Utah aimed at protecting Kalshi’s ability to offer betting contracts in the state, according to CoinDesk.
The case is part of a broader legal campaign by the federal regulator, which has brought more than a dozen actions concerning prediction markets.
The CFTC’s chief maintains that oversight of these markets belongs exclusively to the agency. The Utah lawsuit advances that position in a dispute over Kalshi’s offerings.
