CFTC Reexamines Polymarket’s U.S. Access Restrictions: Reuters
Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
The CFTC is revisiting whether Polymarket honored its 2022 commitment to block U.S. users from its offshore platform, Reuters reported.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has renewed its scrutiny of Polymarket over access to its offshore platform, according to Reuters. The inquiry concerns whether the company complied with a commitment made in 2022 to exclude American users.
Reuters published its report a day after a federal judge declined to dismiss charges against a soldier accused of using a virtual private network, or VPN, to access the platform and place bets on the Maduro raid.
The judge’s decision allows the criminal case to proceed toward trial; it does not establish guilt. Separately, the reported CFTC inquiry examines whether Polymarket met its obligations to restrict U.S. access.
