CFTC Proposal Would Explicitly Classify Event Contracts as Swaps
The CFTC has proposed explicitly treating event contracts as swaps while keeping existing obligations for exchanges and traders unchanged, The Defiant reports.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has proposed explicitly classifying event contracts as swaps, according to The Defiant.
The agency says the proposal would leave current obligations for exchanges and traders in place, rather than replace those requirements.
A separate rule excludes qualifying casino-style wagers. That exclusion is distinct from the proposed swap classification for event contracts.
