Canada is opening a public consultation on rules for stablecoins issued by non-financial institutions as it considers implementing its Stablecoin Act.

The Canadian government will seek public feedback on a proposed regulatory framework for stablecoins issued by non-financial institutions.
The consultation is part of preparations for the possible implementation of Canada’s Stablecoin Act. It gives the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed approach.
Canada cited the US GENIUS Act in connection with the consultation, according to Cointelegraph. The Canadian framework remains a proposal under consideration.
