Brazil’s CVM Pilots Tokenized Securities Framework
Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
Brazil’s securities regulator is testing how distributed ledger technology and smart contracts could support securities issuance, operations and management.

Brazil’s securities regulator, the CVM, has launched an experimental program to explore tokenized securities. The pilot marks a further step in the country’s examination of blockchain-based financial markets.
The initiative will assess how distributed ledger technology could modernize the issuance, operation and management of securities within a testing environment.
A central focus is translating market rules and regulatory requirements into smart contract logic on the platforms used in the program. The effort remains experimental rather than a broad rollout.
