Bitcoin traded near $79,700 as crypto markets weakened despite gains in Asian technology shares ahead of a two-day Federal Reserve meeting.

Bitcoin declined 0.4% from midnight UTC to roughly $79,700, slipping below the $80,000 mark, according to CoinDesk.
The cryptocurrency's retreat contrasted with a rally in Asian technology stocks. The DeFi index also fell, losing 1.8%.
The market moves came as the U.S. Federal Reserve prepared to open a two-day meeting.
