Bitcoin Averaged 50% Gains After Midterms, but Halving Cycle Clouds Link

Bitcoin and the S&P 500 have historically risen in the year following U.S. midterm elections, though bitcoin’s halving cycle offers another possible explanation.

Bitcoin has gained an average of 50% in the year after U.S. midterm elections, compared with 15% for the S&P 500, according to CoinDesk.
The historical pattern shows positive post-midterm returns for both assets, with bitcoin recording the larger average increase. It does not establish that election results drove those gains.
Bitcoin’s roughly four-year halving schedule could also help explain its performance over those periods. That overlap makes it difficult to isolate a midterm-election effect from the cryptocurrency’s own cycle.
