U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent said cryptocurrency could help the United States maintain the dollar's leading global position, according to CoinDesk. He made the remarks at a conference hosted by Ripple.
Bessent pointed to action by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a potential way to address the gap left by the Clarity Act's failure.
His comments also highlighted efforts to curb crypto debanking, or restrictions on access to banking services for cryptocurrency businesses. He presented regulatory action as a possible path forward despite the legislative setback.
