Anthropic Says Claude Linked NIST Curve Seeds to 1990s Timestamps
Edited by Steinar Vigdel Kolnes, Editor, Oslo
Anthropic reports that Claude traced NIST curve seeds to timestamps from the 1990s, a finding that does not amount to a cryptographic break.

Anthropic says its Claude AI system linked seeds used in NIST cryptographic curves to timestamps dating from the 1990s, according to The Defiant.
Code released alongside the finding covers seeds for five NIST prime curves and four binary curves.
The reported result concerns the seeds’ origins rather than a demonstrated failure of the cryptography. It does not constitute a cryptographic break.
