A U.S. appeals court upheld the convictions of two men in one of the biggest hacks ever of the global financial system, even as others still await trial.
The two, a Florida software engineer and a New Jersey pastor, were involved in a Bitcoin exchange suspected of laundering money for hackers who targeted financial and publishing companies including JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Dow Jones & Co.
The engineer, Yuri Lebedev, was convicted in March 2017 of helping operate Coin.mx, which tricked banks into processing Bitcoin transactions by disguising them as restaurant-delivery charges and online purchases of collectible items.
